Mellor is a picturesque ribbon village, gently winding along the valley floor and climbing the hillside via Longhurst Lane and Moor End Road. The higher you go, the more stunning the views—especially around the historic heart of the village.

At the top of the hill, the Church of St. Thomas stands proudly, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The church is a local landmark and a peaceful spot for reflection or a scenic stroll.

A Welcoming Community

Mellor is more than just pretty views—it’s a village with a big heart. The local community is actively involved in supporting Mellor Country House and other important causes. Each March, villagers take part in a charity walk tracing the historic boundaries of Mellor, raising funds for organisations like Cancer Research UK.

• The Hare & Hounds, Mill Brow
  A cosy pub with beautiful views and a long-standing supporter of Mellor Country House. A great spot for food or a relaxing drink after a countryside walk.

• The Royal Oak, Mellor
  Just down the road from us, this traditional pub is a favourite among our visitors—especially during our Open Days and community events. Warm, welcoming, and well worth a visit.

• The Midland Hotel, Marple Bridge
  Located in the charming village of Marple Bridge, this lovely spot donated tables and chairs to help refurbish our dining room. While you're there, explore the cobbled streets, local shops, and riverside views.
